I bought this for my son after he played with it constantly at his birthday party. However he is really young (5 years old) his sisters play with him who are 6, 9 and 12 and help him to create and understand what he's doing. So this has been a gift for them as well and they play together without fighting! This is a gift for me! I chose the larger set so that there would be more options for them to play and would last longer.

We bought this for Christmas for an eight year old boy. Despite being in a holiday gathering of 8 kids, 10 and under, and 10 adults, he immediately sat down and started his way through the book of experiments...hardly stopping until it was time to leave. He has since invented his own creations with it.
