I get this kit frequently as we try to make some every year. It's great to see how the kids' artwork changes over the years. My eldest gets a kick out of seeing her stick figure people she drew several years ago. My Mom recently gave me the plates I made in 1976 with this same kit and they still look like new! It's fun to be able to use art work like this. I also get the kit for birthday parties or other events and have many kids contribute to a plate. I also purchased this once for my daughter and her friend to make plates for one another because her friend was moving far apart. Great quality. Of all the keepsake art projects, this is by far one of the best! Great family tradition and excellent quality.
It's pretty cool but our driveway is not level so it's a bit hard to use. There are so many other ride-on toys that work better. It gets played with but not as much as some of our other ride-on toys and we only get ones that do not require batteries.
This game was released too early because no one bothered to proof-read the experiment manual book which is an essential part of the toy. It has so much potential though. The experiments we could figure out were great but it has the worst booklet of instructions that I have ever seen. I actually wrote the company to complain and they acknowledged that they have a problem with their instructions (which they are working on) but did not offer to send us a revised copy. The bags of supplies and elements are marked incorrectly, the instructions refer to items that are named differently on the bags (sometimes using a scientific name and other times using a made-up trademark name), there are duplicate paragraphs, missing steps, unlabeled items, etc. Also, if you follow there progression of experiments (which is what appears you should do) they do not have enough supplies. For instance, the instructions direct you to let something sit in a particular container for 1 hour but then in the next step you need to use that particular container for the next experiment. It was quite frustrating. The experiments we were able to figure out were cool. Don't buy it until you know the instructions have been updated.
This is a great family game. It's simple enough for my 5 year old to play with the family yet intellectually challenging enough for my 9 year old as well as Mom and Dad to really enjoy playing. Great quality and the pieces come with a pouch so it travels well.
