This game involves a fair bit of strategy, and works well for 2 to 4 players. Players have to decide where to place a card, which moves the other cards, making a path to the goal card. The cards and board are quite sturdy and should last a long time. The game is flexible in length, because you can choose to use all the cards or a subset for a shorter game. My two 5 year olds love this game. I thought they might be too young but I'm glad we skipped the junior version and went straight to this level. They need a bit of assistance sometimes at finding the right move, but they really enjoy thinking about it and finding the right path themselves. Older kids would be able to play unassisted, and I wouldn't go much younger than 5. Definitely worth the value.
This toy was a bit of work to assemble, probably took about 20 minutes (for an adult). Once assembled, the quality is very good, and there aren't too many teeny pieces. The animals that come with it are very cute, and the xray machine is an excellent idea. The kids like playing pretend with it, though I think it would be better suited for kids who are a bit older (6 or up?) and certainly for kids very interested in animals. My kids are less animal familiar which means the toy hasn't kept their interest a ton.
My kids really enjoy playing with this set. It was relatively easy to assemble, and is great for creative, imaginative play. I would say it is probably best for age 4 and up. They love being able to pretend with the Playmobil people and the food. I like that the food choices are mostly healthy (good modeling). The only downside, which is true of many Playmobil toys, is that the toy food is so tiny, it is very easy to lose and we are often crawling around trying to find lost pieces. But otherwise, a fun toy.
