      My one-year-old granddaughter loved the large ABC wooden blocks her grandfather and I gave her for her first birthday. She enjoyed pulling them out of the box, clicking them together to hear the sound they make, knocking over towers we made for her and dropping them back into the sturdy wooden box they come in. The box itself was also a hit--it made a great sound when she banged the blocks on it. This was one birthday gift that was a sure hit with this particular one-year-old.
