Parenthood is full of surprises. If I had to list three of the biggest shockers I’ve encountered in the last 10 months, it would go something like this: 1) the amount of time I would spend discussing “poop” in those first few months; 2) the fact that I would willfully give up my beloved manual transmission car for the ease and roominess of a [gasp] minivan; and 3) the new meaning of the term, “date night.”

Cookie Love

I'm constantly trying to sneak nutritious treats into their Green Eats Snack Bowls. We have our favorite quick bites, the standard grapes, apples, carrot sticks, cheddar cheese, but these snacks don't really cut it for the after school set. 

Instead, I rely on a recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies that my boys love. The ingredients made me very skeptical and hopeful. If I could infuse cookies with extra protein, load them full of chocolate chips, and have the kids inhale them? A huge win for mom, but who on earth eats cookies made from chickpeas. I mean, really?

The Cheaper Diapers

Once Nora arrived, I was nervous which is natural for any new parent, and my “type A” personality came on strong when it came to the “right” and/or “wrong” way to do things. I was sure that the realms of right and wrong, good and less-than-good parenting, were black and white. I scoffed at the “live and learn and then get [cheaper diapers] commercial.” Cheap diapers couldn’t possibly be as good as the more expensive brands, right?
